Bass Ministers To The Pastoral And Social Needs Of Seafarers And Maritime Workers In The Ports Of The San Francisco Bay Area. To Fulfill This Need, Bass, An Institution Of The Episcopal Diocese Of California Owns And Operates The International Maritime Center At The Port Of Oakland. The Goal Of This Ecumenical Center Is To Provide Religious Services To Seafarers, Both At The Center And Aboard Ship And To Provide Support Services Such As Recreation, Communications, Transportation, Counseling And Advocacy, Meals And Refreshments To All Maritime Workers Regardless Of Religion, Race Or Nationality. Chaplains And Volunteers Visit Approximately 1,500 Ships Per Year Ministering To Over 10,000 Merchant Seafarere And Port Workers. Effective July 1, 2009, The Seamen''s Chruch Institute Of New York And New Jersey (The "Institute") Became The Sole Member Of Bass. In Addition, The Executive Board Of The Institute Now Serves As The Board Of Trustees Of Bass And The Institute Assumed Control, Resultin
