North America: To Prevent A Proposed $4 Billion Cut To Foreign Assistance Proposed By The Trump Administration, One Action Supporters Took More Than 17,000 Actions To Rally Support. By Strategically Targeting Key Decision Makers In The Administration And Congress, One Action And Its Partners Successfully Stopped The $4 Billion In Cuts. One Action Also Supported 201 Lobbying Meetings Between Our Top Grassroots Activists And Their Members Of Congress And Their Staff, Including 39 Senate Offices And 42 House Offices That Pledged To Go "On The Record" With Their Support Of Funding For The Global Fund.One Action Supported The Passage Of The Global Fragility Act. Volunteers Held 220 Member Of Congress Meetings Advocating For Cosponsors For The Global Fragility Act While The Us Government Relations Team Worked With Offices To Get The Act Included In The Appropriations Bill And Passed Into Law. Through Online And In Person Meetings, One Action Helped The Bill Reach 27 Cosponsors And The Global Fragility Act Was Signed Into Law December 20, 2019. In 2019, One Action''s Top Priority In The Us Was To Maintain Its Historic One-Third Commitment To The Global Fund Replenishment Goal. The Trump Administration''s Fy20 Budget Included $1.1 Billion For The Global Fund, 30% Below One Action''s Request Of $1.56 Billion, And A $3.3 Billion Overall Commitment For The Replenishment Cycle. One Action Influenced The Trump''s Administration''s Policy Position On Life-Saving Global Aids Programs, Resulting In More Than 40,000 Petition Signatures And 6,000 Direct Communications To Secretary Of State Mike Pompeo And To Congress In Support Of The Fund''s Replenishment. Additionally, One Action Held More Than 240 In-Person Meetings With Congressional Offices And Secured 147 Signatories To The House Letter And 35 Signatories To The Senate Letter On The Global Fund And Pepfar. One Action Also Helped To Secure Over 1,300 Stories In National And Local Media Outlets That Mention Global Aids Programs. In February, One Action Volunteers Met With 202 Members Of Congress To Advocate For The Global Fund. One Action Also Collaborated With Appropriators On The Language In The Bill And Coordinated A Congressional Delegation To The Replenishment To Represent The United States Instead Of The Administration. In Canada, One Action Volunteers Sent 6,000 Postcards To The Minister Of International Development''s Office To Advocate For The Global Fund. One Action Organized A Coalition Of Grassroots Sector Heads In A National Media Campaign Of Opeds Written By Scientists, Former Politicians And Activists, Generating Dozens Of Stories With Consistent Language. In Canada, Leaders Of Hiv/Aids, Lgbtq+ And National Health Advocacy Organizations Were Mobilized In A Letter-Writing Campaign And Public Mobilization At Pride In Montreal.
