    The Mission Of The Newport Art Museum Is To Champion A Provocative Diversity Of Creative Voices And Experiences Within A Historic Newport Setting, Thus Sparking Reflection, Inspiration, Discovery, And Connection To Ourselves, Our Community And Our World. The Art Association Of Newport, Now The Newport Art Museum, Was Founded In 1912 On The Belief That Art Is A Civilizing Influence And An Essential Component To Creating Vibrant Communities. Charter Members Included Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, Pulitzer-Prize Winning Author Maud Howe Elliott, Louisa Sturtevant, And Other Artists And Intellectuals. The Museum''s Campus Sits On 3-Acres And Includes Three Buildings, Including The Former John N.A. Griswold House, Which Is On The National Register Of Historic Places, The Historically- Significant Cushing Gallery, And The Coleman Center For Creative Studies, Where The Museum School Is Located.
